The word "cement" originated from the Latin word "caementum". It is a fine, soft, powdery-type substance made from a mixture of materials such as limestone, clay, sand and/or shale. It is the common base material used for casting concrete, bricklaying, rendering and screeding and plays a major part in nearly all construction projects.
Different applications require different cement properties and performance. These can vary with the addition of additives.
